Briefing
I had the opportunity to participate in SwissSkills in Bern! As an interactive media designer, my task was to design an app called vegsy. The app was intended to help people, especially those living in citiy grow their own vegetables in small spaces. The entire project was divided into three major areas of focus.
Analysis & Research
1/6
My mood boards for the app design.
To begin with, I read through the assignment carefully and jotted down all the key requirements. It was particularly important that the design come across as light, fresh, and easy to understand. These guidelines formed the basis for the entire design process.
Task 1 (A-C)
2/6
My wireframes for the homepage.
The first main task consisted of three subtasks, for which we had one and a half days. During this phase, I designed the home page, two additional subpages, and two user flows. The goal was to develop a clear and user-friendly structure for the app.
Task 2 (A-C)
3/6
My app icon design for vegsy.
I made it to the next round! The second assignment again consisted of three parts. This time, I designed an app icon, created a splash screen animation, and developed an Instagram ad that showcases the app in an appealing way.
Task 3
4/6
The quick and easy storyboard for the client presentation.
Who would have thought it I actually made it to the finals! The final task was to create a client presentation. We could choose between a traditional presentation or a video. I decided to make a video so I could present my concept in the most dynamic and compelling way possible.
Finished Prototyp
5/6
Finished prototype of the homepage.
Here you can see part of my prototype. Looking back, I'm still impressed by how much can be accomplished in just four days. Despite the tight deadline, I managed to develop a complete and well-thought-out concept.
Victory Celebration
6/6
Awards ceremony for the Interactive Media Designers.
In the end, I took third place. SwissSkills was an intense and challenging experience that pushed me to my limits every day. That makes me all the more proud to have given it my all. I am very grateful for this opportunity and for everything I was able to learn along the way.
Participating in SwissSkills was a great adventure and a valuable experience for me. In particular, I learned how important emotional support can be during an intense challenge. The support I received from others gave me a lot of motivation and made me even stronger. I also learned not to give up even under intense time pressure, but to stay focused, keep working, and always do my best. This experience helped me grow both professionally and personally.
